Nissan has some of the most efficient vehicles available in the automotive industry. Even with that laudable fact in place, the automaker is always looking for new ways to be more eco-friendly.
Nissan is so committed to this cause that it has pledged to be carbon neutral by 2050.
Eliminating carbon emissions from Nissan vehicles and production will be no easy task. Still, Nissan already has some major milestones in place.
For example, Nissan plans to introduce only new models that are electrified by the early 2030s.
“We’re determined to help create a carbon neutral society and accelerate the global effort against climate change,” explains Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida. “Our offering in electrified vehicles will continue to expand around the world, and this will make a major contribution to Nissan becoming carbon neutral.”
Nissan isn’t just looking to make its vehicles more efficient. It’s also planning to make the production of these vehicle far more eco-friendly.
The Nissan Intelligent Factory initiative will introduce new techniques and ideas to manufacture these brand-new all-electric models while minimizing any carbon emissions, before hopefully eliminating these emissions entirely by 2050.
