Tips for Your Trade-In

Are you considering buying a new car? Do you plan on trading in your current car? We understand that trading in your vehicle can be a stressful experience, and we want to help ease the worries in your mind when you stop into Bill Seidle's Nissan to trade in your car and purchase your next new car! There are a few things you can do to ensure that you get the most value from your trade-in.

The first thing you want to do is have your car appraised. This can be done either by a local dealership, CarFax, or an online estimator. When using an online estimator, be sure you are honest or overly cautious about your vehicle's current condition. Also, it is never a bad idea to take your car to a few different places to have your car appraised and see an average value between the few.

Make sure the timing is right. It is not usually the best idea to try and sell a convertible during the middle of winter because the dealership will have a harder time re-selling that car and, in turn, won't be offering you the best value for your awesome convertible. (Luckily, in Doral, FL, we don't have those problems! We always love a nice convertible!) Same goes for vehicles like large trucks and SUVs. When gas prices are high, it is harder to sell those types of vehicles because people typically are shopping for more fuel efficient vehicles. Maybe waiting a couple months for gas prices to drop will get you a better value when trading in your large vehicle. Just be sure to do your research and be up-to-date on current news and trends when trying to decide when you should trade-in your car.

Sometimes, putting a little money into sprucing up or cleaning your car can go a long way. Before you take your car to have it appraised or traded-in, be sure to make sure it is clean. One clever trick people have learned is to leave some personal items in your car so that it does not look like you've recently decided you are definitely trading in your car. Clean the exterior, vacuum the interior, clean out the fast food bags and random bits of trash, but leave some personal items in the trunk or backseat. This will let your dealer know you have not settled on the fact you are trade in your car, but are open to negotiations.

Hopefully, these tips will help you get the most value for your trade-in. When considering purchasing a new car and trading in your current vehicle, be sure to consider Bill Seidle's Nissan located in Doral, FL, to get the most value from your trade-in!
