Nissan midnight lineup

Back in 2015, Nissan discontinued its popular Xterra, an off-road-capable crossover that served a large audience for several years. As customer demands shifted toward smaller, more efficient crossovers, however, the Xterra lost its place.

Until now.

A new report suggests that Nissan may revive the Xterra, but it will be a whole new Nissan Xterra, different enough to succeed in the market but similar enough to please loyalists. The new Nissan Xterra will be targeted at the “urban adventurer” sub-segment of Millennials, those who like efficiency and safety features but still want to go off the beaten path.

According to The News Wheel, this new Xterra, while it will share the nameplate with the discontinued model, will be built on a new platform that will prioritize safety, fuel economy, and value.

While Nissan has not officially confirmed the revival of the Xterra, experts speculate that we can expect to see it returning at an auto show this year-most likely as early as the Beijing Auto Show in China this April.

Have fond memories of the old Nissan Xterra? Bill Seidle’s Nissan doesn’t just offer new Nissan vehicles; we also have an extensive lineup of used Nissan models, including the rugged, off-road-capable Xterra. Take a test drive today.
