Types Of Tires
There are a wide variety of tire types for you to choose for your vehicle. From snow to high-performance tires, it might seem overwhelming trying to select the right set for your car, so here's a quick run-down of the most common types of tires and their ideal usage:
All-Season Tires
These tires are a little self-explanatory. They're good year-round and are meant to provide you with reliable functionality all the time. Most cars in the US come standard with all-season tires.
Performance Tires
These tires are meant to provide ultimate handling, traction, and grip for high-performance vehicles. These tires are great for fast accelerations and hard braking; and we don't just mean for your average, 60-80 mph highway speeds. In fact, performance tires are not suggesting unless you are driving a high-performance vehicle.
Snow Tires
Besides you run-of-the-mill all-season tire, show tires might be the most well-known type or tire. Snow tires are meant to give you the absolute best traction and control in the snow through added grooves to help the tires grip the snow and a soft rubber make-up to prevent hardening.
Of course, we don't need snow tires down here in sunny Miami; but it's good to learn about them if you ever move north!
Off Road Tires
These tires are intended to power your vehicle through a variety of terrain, from gravel to mud to sand and everything in between. With their large lug design and deep divots meant to cast off water, off road tires are excellent for the adventurous off-roader.
We also have some great tips for maintaining your tires and knowing when the best time to replace your tires is.
